Polystichum Munitum – Western Sword Fern

Known as the Western Sword Fern, this Polystichum has lustrous, rich, dark green fronds up to 90cms (3ft) long. These are produced in a distinctive, loose shuttlecock-like shape. An evergreen, the name is very apt due to the fronds resembling large swords. It is ideal for providing all year foliage interest for a mixed border in full or partial shade.Do allow it  grow into a mature specimen, in the dappled shade of a tree perhaps, and with good soil and moisture at it’s roots, it will develop a presence and character all of it’s own. Polystichum munitum is quite hard to find, and should be more widely grown. Supplied in approx 2 litre containers
