Viburnum plicatum tomentosum ‘Mariesii’- Japanese Snowball Bush
The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit to Viburnum plicatum tomoentosum and with good reason. A remarkable shrub, with widely spreading branches that naturally grow up in horizontal tiers. The layered ‘wedding cake’ effect is dramatic at any time, but especially when the snowy white flowers appear, masses of neat lacecap heads are arranged in rows along the upperside of the spreading branches. These wonderful, white, lacecap-like flowers appear on the horizontally tiered branches in May amongst the green leaves, which as an added bonus turn red-purple in autumn. An excellent specimen plant for a sunny shrub or mixed border, this beautiful, deciduous shrub is fully hardy and easy-to-grow. The distinctive, horizontal habit works particularly well in a Japanese themed garden. Strong plants supplied in approx. 4 litre containers, in bud and bloom in season.
