Thuja occidentalis ‘Smaragd’ – 60-80cm Specimen or Hedging Conifers
Prized for its emerald green colour, award-winning Thuja occidentalis ‘Smaragd’ has a compact, narrow, upright habit with erect sprays of glossy, bright green foliage and can reach 4-5 metres (12-14ft) tall if left un-clipped.This is an attractive, evergreen conifer that has a compact growth habit makes that make it ideal for hedging purposes. With fresh emerald-green foliage that responds well to clipping, the dense growth makes it perfect for helping to reduce noise, particularly as it quickly forms a closed hedge when planted 60cm apart.Growing 30-60cms per year, it is much more manageable than the better known leylandii with this tamer rate of growth and eventual height of around 5 metres if left unclipped.If used as a solitary specimen it will form a narrow pyramidal tree, not much wider than 2.5m.Supplied in approx. 2-3 litre containers at around 60-80cm tall.
